Week of Intercession – Today’s Focus: God’s Plan for Pastors

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”

– 2 Timothy 4:2

The International Pastors and Leadership Conference was designed to equip pastors with the tools and resources needed to cultivate a culture of excellence within the ministry. Continuing our week of intercessory prayer from The Potter’s House, we would like to pray for all of the aspiring and tenured pastors attending this week’s conference. Bishop T.D. Jakes and his ministry team want you to know that God has a plan for your ministry!

If you have been called to serve as a pastor, the enemy will inevitably seek to target your every move. In fact, he will always attempt to strike when you are at your weakest mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The enemy enjoys controlling your mind. He knows that if he can control your mind, he can control your life. However, the tactics that he employs are never a match for God’s grace and mercy over your ministry. Regardless of how many times the enemy attempts to knock you down, you must get up and press forward into God’s presence.

“Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.” – Hebrews 13:17

The role of a pastor is akin to being the “hands of Christ.” When people are hurting and need someone to uncover how to overcome life challenges, they know that they can count on their pastor for counsel. Having said that, it should come as no surprise that the enemy would seek to destroy the plans that God has for your ministry. However, know that God’s plans will be fulfilled, in Jesus Christ’s name. Do you believe that God is faithful to bless your ministry in every area? If you believe and you activate your faith through works, you will achieve God’s plan for your ministry. God longs for you to preach the Gospel to those who are sick and in need of a doctor! God needs you to lead by example. Be a great steward of your ministry, including your volunteers, congregates, and staff.

“So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” – 4:11-12

Intercessory Prayer for Pastors

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you will forgive me of my sins. I believe that you gave your only begotten Son – Jesus Christ – to die for my sins. Today, I accept Jesus Christ into my life. God, I earnestly bow down to you and acknowledge you as my Lord and Savior. I thank you for being a magnificent Father. Today, I ask that you cover every single pastor attending the International Pastors & Leadership (IP&L) Conference in Dallas, TX, with your favor and blessings, in Jesus Christ’s name. Lord, I pray that you will bless every pastor with the proper mindset and spirit so that they can be an authentic reflection of Christ! I pray that you will convict the hearts of every pastor to seek your infallible Word daily, to renew their minds. Father, we know that the enemy attempts to reign over our thoughts; however, you, Father, are faithful to thwart the plans of the enemy, in Jesus Christ’s name.

Heavenly Father, you know all of the obstacles facing pastors today. I pray that you will bless them to overcome every obstacle whether natural or supernatural that may come their way, in Jesus Christ’s name. Lord, we know that every pastor’s faith will be tested. I pray that your Holy Spirit will guide them and be that still small voice to encourage them to never give up! Lord, cover them with your blood!

I pray that you will equip every pastor with the tools and resources they need to become Christ-centric leaders for your Kingdom. Lord, I pray that you will bless every pastor to make meaningful connections with those who either need mentorship as well as those desiring fellowship with other pastors, leaders, and entrepreneurs. Bless them to connect with industry thought leaders, speakers, and others who are smarter, wiser, and more talented than they are, in Jesus Christ’s name. Allow them to leverage these new connections for your glory, Father!

God, through intercessory prayer I pray that you cover every pastor with the mighty blood of Jesus, including those who are able to attend the conference, as well as those who are not able to attend. Lord, I ask that you will convict every pastor’s heart to discern the enemy’s plans so that they can rebuke those tactics, in Jesus Christ’s name. May you impart your humble, servant heart in every pastor’s ministry. Thank you, Father, for equipping and edifying every pastor for their ministries, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
