ABOUT
Kenneth Kelly is the chairman and CEO of First Independence Corp. and Bank. Under his leadership, the corporation’s book value doubled in five years. He is an influential figure in the banking community, serving as vice chairman of the American Bankers Association and a board member for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis. His other key roles include being on the FDIC Advisory Committee on Economic Inclusion and chairing the National Bankers Association.
Before banking, Kelly had a successful 27-year career in the electric utility business, notably negotiating acquisitions of large renewable solar projects worth $3.4 billion. In 2020, he was inducted into the State of Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame. He’s also an author and the owner of MyLegacyItems.com. In 2022 and 2023, he was recognized as one of Detroit Business Magazine’s Top 500 Corporate Leaders.
