Secretary Marcia L. Fudge is the 18th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). She believes in adaptive policies to meet unique housing challenges and is committed to making homeownership a reality for more Americans. Under her leadership, HUD aims to eradicate homelessness, end discriminatory practices, and ensure fair housing rules are effective.

Fudge served as the U.S. representative for Ohio’s 11th Congressional District from 2008 to 2021, where she worked across political ideologies to address the unique challenges of her district. In 1999, she became the first female and African American mayor of Warrensville Heights, Ohio. She pioneered one of the state’s first vacant property ordinances and developed a task force against predatory lending. Her efforts brought new residential development and addressed foreclosure crises through local partnerships.
